Whistler | Canada
Located in the southern Pacific Ranges of the Coast Mountains in the province of British Columbia just north of Vancouver Whistler is one of the most well-known ski resorts in the world. Famous for the huge mountains and vertical drops this resort provides some of the best skiing North America has to offer. The village offers everything skiers and snowboarders could ask for, such as cafes and over 100 diverse restaurants that cater to all tastes including French, Italian, Chinese, Mexican and many more. Over 2 million people visit Whistler each year, mainly for alpine skiing and snowboarding, but in the summer Whistler stays open to visitors for activities such as mountain biking and hiking.
More commonly known as Chamonix or Chamounix this resort is hailed as one of the best skiing locations not only in France, but in the world. Located at the foot of Mont-Blanc, it’s the highest peak in the Alps and the second highest in Europe. This resort boasts some of the best vertical drops of 9,209 feet and one of the world’s longest runs, the Vallée Blanche (13.7 miles). Alta & Snowbird | Utah
These linked resorts are classed as the powder capitals of the world, basically the snow here is lavish, frequent and as light as it comes which creates the best skiing experience possible. On average, these resorts receive more than 12m of a snow per year. Also most of the slopes are left un-groomed which again adds to an amazing skiing experience. Both resorts have a small collection of hotels and apartments and there are a few bars and restaurants which does mean there is little to do off the slopes. If you want to experience the best nightlife it is a 40km drive to nearby Salt Lake City. Please note that snowboarding is banned in Alta but allowed in Snowbird.(Image courtesy of Ski Epic)
